Universal Pictures have won a heated bidding war for the rights to film one of the most intriguing and highly anticipated graphic novel movie adaptations of the decade. The Electric State, dubbed a “narrative art book,” is set in a disturbing 1997 Dystopia in the aftermath of a giant android apocalyptic war. The Russo Brothers of Marvel Avengers fame have been assigned to direct, and they will produce under their own independent film and television banner, AGBO. The Russos were quick to shoulder tap one of Hollywood’s brightest young stars, Millie Bobby Brown, for the lead role. With a resume that includes some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters and Netflix offerings of the past decade, the Russo / Brown juggernaut shows no sign of abating any time soon.
Brown’s rise to fame draws comparison with some of the most acclaimed leading ladies of Tinseltown. Jodie Foster and Natalie Portman are just two that come to mind, whose childhood stardom transitioned into longevity and critical acclaim as actresses. Millie Bobby Brown’s early merchandise has increased sharply in value since the Russo signing, and this trend is only likely to continue. With a plethora of highly anticipated projects in the works, including another season of Stranger Things, Eleven Collectibles are quickly finding their way to completists’ shelves.
