DESCRIPTION:
Explore Jordan Mechner’s Karateka through an interactive documentary that places playable history beside archival material and newly produced video features. Rather than presenting the landmark game without context, the collection explains the people, decisions and development work that led to it. Documents and behind-the-scenes material offer ways to examine how the project evolved, while play provides a direct relationship with the design being discussed. Part of Digital Eclipse’s Gold Master Series, it treats a game and its creator’s history as one connected subject. The result suits both returning players interested in the origins of a favourite and newcomers curious about the craft behind an influential early title.
