DESCRIPTION:
Debt-ridden journalist Naomi Hayward travels from New York to Rainy Woods, an English town advertised as exceptionally happy. Investigating its mysteries reveals residents who transform into cats and dogs at night, followed by a murder that makes the assignment more urgent. Naomi gains animal forms herself, using feline jumping and canine scent tracking to reach clues unavailable to an ordinary reporter. Photographic work earns money through assignments and social trends, while food, sleep and everyday care remain practical concerns. The Good Life mixes its unusual murder investigation with gardening, cooking and getting to know a town whose welcoming routine conceals considerably more than Naomi expected.
