DESCRIPTION:
The Bard's Tale follows a self-interested adventurer whose priorities are often money, comfort and the next opportunity rather than noble heroism. Its fantasy journey combines action role-playing with comedy, using the Bard's comments and the narrator's responses to undercut familiar questing conventions. Players fight enemies, explore settlements and use music to summon companions who can assist in battle or solve particular obstacles. Dialogue choices influence the tone of encounters, while new tunes expand the group of available allies. The adventure offers a more irreverent approach to fantasy than traditional heroic epics, mixing exploration and combat with a running argument about what sort of hero the Bard actually wants to be.
