DESCRIPTION:
Stranded on a distant planet, worker Jan Dolski needs more help than one person can provide to keep a mobile base functioning. A substance called Rapidium allows him to create alternate versions of himself, each shaped by a different choice he could have made earlier in life. Their practical skills offer a chance of survival, but their contrasting experiences and personalities create conflicts that must be managed. The science-fiction adventure connects resourceful work with questions about identity and regret. Returning home requires Jan to cooperate with people who are both familiar and profoundly different, while new decisions may place one version’s safety against the needs of the others.
