DESCRIPTION:
Become an ambitious colonial governor in the seventeenth-century Caribbean and develop a small settlement into a thriving trade city. Link production across islands and establish shipping routes that answer the changing demands of different ports. Careful navigation avoids storms, shallow water and other hazards, while work for a nation’s viceroy unlocks opportunities for better ships and buildings. Spain, England, France and the Netherlands compete for influence, creating choices about trade, privateering and the conquest of rivals. Pirates provide further risks along the sea lanes. The simulation connects economic planning with maritime power, making a successful colony depend on both what it produces and how safely its ships can move it.
