Pokémon Gold is a Game Boy Color game released in 2001 where players take on the role of a young Pokémon trainer:

    Players explore the Johto region, battling Pokémon and completing quests. The game is played from a top-down perspective in real time, with the time of day and day of the week affecting gameplay.

    Players can capture, evolve, and trade Pokémon to complete the Pokédex. The game introduces two new Pokémon types, Dark and Steel, and includes 100 new Pokémon. It also features the Legendary Pokémon trio Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. 

  • Battle system

    The game features a complex battle system that’s similar to rock-paper-scissors. 

  • Wireless communication

    The game is compatible with the Nintendo 3DS’s wireless communication features. 

  • Availability

    Pokémon Gold is available on the Virtual Console on Nintendo 3DS family systems.
