DESCRIPTION:
The sorceress Etheldred rules Mercia from a remote northern tower, periodically sending soldiers to take its people into slavery. An elf, wizard and marauder answer a call for champions to end her reign. Battle Axe follows their journey through a top-down arcade adventure centred on hacking and slashing through hostile forces. Detailed pixel artwork by Henk Nieborg gives the characters and environments a distinctly traditional appearance, while music by Manami Matsumae accompanies the action. Its fantasy quest draws on the rhythm of older arcade adventures: choose a hero, confront the forces occupying the land and push toward the ruler responsible for Mercia’s suffering.
