No longer just a guardian of the gold, Smaug became the very embodiment of greed, his hide mirroring the glittering coins he coveted above all else. “Smaug the Golden creates a striking “”what if”” narrative, imagining the Fire Drake fused with the very treasure he guards. To achieve this lustrous, treasure-hoarding aesthetic, our artists have employed a specialised metallic foiling technique.
This complex application coats the scales and skin in a shimmering layer of gold, simulating the effect of aeons spent crushing dwarven fortunes beneath his might. Yet, amidst this metallic armour, the eyes and maw remain disturbingly organic; a visceral reminder that a living, breathing monster still lurks beneath the gilt.
